This is Perry Woodin -- co-founder of NODE40 -- and I’m running for re-election as a candidate in the 2020 Dash Trust Protectors election. This post is meant to provide some guidance on how to vote if you are a masternode owner and wish to express your preference for candidates. If you want to learn more about the Dash Trust Protectors, check out the official Dash blog at https://blog.dash.org/trust-protectors-election-2020-fcfc8f33c843.
The first thing you will want to do is evaluate the candidates at https://beta.dashwatch.org/elections?tab=candidates&election=TPE2020.
Once you have made a determination about who you will support, head over to the voting app at https://tpe2020.dashwatch.org/.
The instructions below are for masternode owners who keep their collateral or voting key on a hardware device like a Trezor. In fact, the screenshots below are from a Trezor wallet. If you keep your collateral in a Dash Core wallet, feel free to reach out to NODE40 support and we’ll help you through the process.
Step 1. Select the candidates you would like to vote for.
Go to the voting app at https://tpe2020.dashwatch.org/ and select your candidates. In this example, I have only selected myself (Perry Woodin), but you can obviously select whichever candidates you prefer.
Step 2. Review your candidate selection.
After selecting your candidates, you’ll see a string like tpe2020-pwoodin
or tpe2020-pwoodin|mmason|mlewis
or something similar.
Step 3. Sign a message from your wallet.
Open your hardware wallet and go to the Sign & Verify section. You’ll need to supply the Message from Step 2 above (e.g. tpe2020-pwoodin
) and a public key Address that is associated with your masternode. This could be the masternode collateral public key (the address where your 1,000 Dash resides), or the voting public key or owner public key if you generated those keys from your hardware wallet. It will probably be easiest to simply use the masternode public key.
Most hardware wallets are smart enough to let you know if the public key you are using is associated with the wallet. Note the green check mark in this Trezor example.
After you have supplied your Message and Address, click the Sign button to create the Signature.
Step 4. Submit your vote from the vote app.
From the voting app at https://tpe2020.dashwatch.org/ enter the Address you used in Step 3 above along with the Signature generated in Step 3 above.
Click the Submit Vote button and you will be presented with a Success message.
Repeat these steps for each masternode that you would like to vote with.
